Old leaking skylight ready for replacement

Replacements

Most skylight leaks come from units 15+ years old that have lost their seal or have failed flashing underneath. We pull the old unit, inspect and rebuild the kerb, fit a new skylight, and re-plaster the shaft if it's stained.

Example

From a recent install.

New twin skylights after replacing failed units

Case study

Old units pulled, kerbs rebuilt, two new skylights in by lunch.

Do

What we get right.

  • Pull the old unit and inspect the roof for any deterioration or damage underneath.

  • Address what's found on the day. Damage covered over comes back as a problem years down the track.

  • Re-plaster the shaft if there's any staining. A new skylight in a stained shaft still looks tired.

Don’t

What ruins the install.

  • Don't re-fit a new unit onto a soft kerb. The new install will fail the same way the old one did.

  • No covering up damaged roof or frames. No reusing old components.

  • Don't paint over shaft stains and call it done. The mould comes back through.
